Hi all! There are so many technology skills I could want to learn, but specifically I want to learn imovie. I say this because I have tried to use it so many times and always found it difficult, so i'd definitely need to learn it. I think imovie is a great tool for making your own videos, making picture slideshows, compiling different subjects into a movie, etc. I think I can do this by really sitting down to learn the system and looking up tutorials on youtube. Not only is imovie good for education, it's also good for making personal movies, etc. I had an optional extra credit in a class and you could make an imovie, but I didn't have the time to learn it so I had to miss out. I hope I can learn this tool in the near future!

HOW are we almost done?! Hi guys welcome back to my blog :)

I have huge plans as an aspiring teacher for technology! I think even if you're one of those people who hate how much technology is taking over, it's kind of inevitable at this point and a good teacher will familiarize their students with technology because of how relevant it is. I plan to use technology to communicate with parents (through email) and possibly a class page, because I know some students don't keep their parents up to speed the way they'd like to. I also will post reminders/class announcements on a student page of my class page incase a student ever feels overwhelmed, it can be a point of reference. Lastly, I will routinely incorporate technology in my lessons, using interactive slideshows, the internet, webquests, etc.

The first powerpoint assignment didn't really teach me much but the second one taught me all new tools and it was awesome! I've honestly always wondered how people create interactive slideshows, (clicking on arrows and being brought to the next slide, rather than just hitting the space bar or clicking the mouse) i've worked on powerpoint a lot and never figured it out. There wasn't much I didn't like about the assignment because I learned new helpful skills. I think in the future now that i'm more familiar, it won't take so long. I attached it below.

Hi again everyone!
I think the flipped classroom is a really cool idea and gets away from the traditional approaches of learning that sometimes become boring to students. However, for those students who aren't as good at working at home for school, the flipped classroom approach definitely won't work as good for them. In simple explanation, the flipped classroom idea is when students watch a video watch short simple videos on the lecture prior to class so that during class time the teacher can expand on the information, answer questions, etc. Like I mentioned, it requires at home effort on the students part so that's a necessity for it to work out. For students who get bored/distracted easily during "boring" lectures, the flipped classroom is a great approach.
I think the digital divide is a huge issue. The digital divide is caused by differences in wealth between families and schools. I think in schools where most kids are privileged enough to have technology and a small amount are not, the digital divide becomes a distraction and a problem. If a student doesn't have a computer at home and has to go to a public library and use one, they're already putting in more work and are more inconvenienced than those kids who don't have to leave home. As a teacher, I would send home a sheet with each student at the beginning of the year to see what technology they have access to and assess the situation from there. I would also try to make sure technology that is provided by the school can be present in my classroom so if kids don't have those devices at home they can get used to them at school.
I loved the powerpoint assignments. The first was very easy and the second caused me a bit more trouble. However, like most of the assignments, it's cool bringing projects to life and seeing how I really could use them in the future. I didn't know how to make an interactive powerpoint but with a little help from the internet I figured things out.

Hi everyone! Whew that powerpoint project had me veryyyyy busy.

I've worked with disabled kids every summer at a camp so I appreciate assistive and adaptive technologies so much. I think it helps disabled students feel so much more capable and not be so secluded from other students. I think sometimes these technologies can be pretty time consuming which can cause some issues in a classroom but I think the benefits are worth using them. I've seen kids with learning disabilities be provided ipads with the lesson plans on the screen with interactive touching features because touching tangible items can help them learn better.

Honestly, the more I know about technology I think the better I will be professionally. Technology is so important these days and I feel like i'm getting very familiar with programs I never knew before. Creating websites, presentations, resumes, etc. are all things i'm sure i'll have to do no matter what job I have and knowing the skills makes it so much easier to just focus on the content.

I LOVED the webquest assignment. I'll agree it was pretty time-consuming, but I loved getting to be creative with the site. I'm sure i'll make a website in the future whether it be a blog, for a business, etc. I learned how to properly format a website, to leave little white space, to adjust it for my classes age group, etc. Here it is! https://kls16c.wixsite.com/dailyeatsproject

Hi everyone! Happy 4th of July! So crazy that it's already July and the semester is flying by!

I actually found a great set of teacher pages for Franklin Public School. It's grades 9-12. (https://sites.google.com/a/franklin.k12.wi.us/hs-barry/) This is Mrs. Barry's website and I think it gives just the right amount of information to the public. I find a photograph of her, the grade and subject she teaches and contact information. There's a little section where she introduces her class and subject and then the scheduling for her class. There's also a little for her classes turnitin.com instructions. If I ever had to make a teacher page I think one like Mrs. Barry's would be perfect. Look at it below!

I like blogging! I like talking to the class and mostly it's only once a week so I don't think it's too excessive. To be quite honest some of the assignments in the class get confusing to me but blogging on blogger.com is pretty straight forward. I like getting to know more about my classmates and especially like finding blogs where my classmates let their personalities come out a little bit more. I'd like to learn more on making my blog look nice and cool effects and maybe i'll learn more about that soon!

Lastly, here is my web evaluation form from last week! I actually enjoyed this assignment because I felt like I really created a helpful form that's similar to something i'd have to do if I really was a teacher. It was also have to fill it out myself and see it all come to life. I learned a lot on formatting because I wanted the form to be very easy to understand and remain visually appealing. I think in the future if I was working with older kids I would go more in depth on the form but this one did the job for my younger audience.
